Founded in 1974, Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watches is the most renowned watch atelier in the Netherlands. Inspired by astronomy, it remains the only atelier in the world dedicated exclusively to crafting exquisite, hand-made astronomical timepieces.
In 1974, Christiaan van der Klaauw founded his own atelier, unveiling his first clock featuring astronomical complications. In recognition of his horological talent, he was awarded honorary membership in the prestigious Swiss Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI) in 1989. His ingenuity reached new heights in 1992 when his Pendule Variable clock was honoured with the prize for the most innovative watch design at Basel, Switzerland.
With an unrivalled dedication to astronomical complications, each CVDK timepiece narrates a poetic story of our place in the cosmos. Inspired by Christiaan van der Klaauw’s background in historical astronomy and precision instruments, every creation unites technical excellence with artistic expression.
Crafted entirely by hand in their Naarden-based atelier, each limited edition is realised with exceptional skill and artistry by a dedicated team upholding the finest traditions of haute horlogerie.
Winner of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Calendar & Astronomy Award in 2021 in Switzerland. Officially listed on the ‘Haute Horlogerie’ White Paper list of the respected Fondation Haute Horlogerie (FHH).
While space may be infinite, the number of watches produced is intentionally limited. It is the exquisite fusion of traditional watchmaking and timeless design that imparts each timepiece in this collection with its distinctive and enduring beauty.
